Service dog training classes are specially designed classes that teach dogs how to assist their owners with tasks. These classes not only teach basic obedience skills, but also advanced training techniques that are required for a service dog to effectively assist their owner. Some of the specialized tasks that a service dog may learn include opening doors, turning lights on and off, retrieving dropped objects, and alerting their owner to sounds such as a doorbell or fire alarm.

This class builds off the foundational skills learned in the Click a Trick class you already completed. We will take these skills and slowly shape them into new, useful behaviors that your SDiT (Service Dog in Training), home helper dog, or pet will perform. Some tasks we will be featuring involve opening refrigerator or cupboard doors, retrieving useful items, cultivating your dog’s enthusiasm and drive to work. Come prepared to dive into the exciting world of Service Dog training.
Cost: Free Intro Class / $250 for full course
Requirements: Obedience 1 & 2 (or instructor discretion), Click a Trick, Owner’s Manual
Note: *This class requires that you do your homework! This is a very quick moving and advanced training class and we want the dogs (and you) to get the appropriate help they need while we are training together. If homework is not done, there is a chance that your dog will not be able to perform the tasks by the end of class.* *It is NOT required that you have a SDiT or home helper dog to participate in this class. If you would just like to teach your pet some new and helpful behaviors, that’s perfectly ok too!* *PLEASE NOTE THAT TAKING AND COMPLETING THIS COURSE DOES NOT MAKE YOUR DOG A SERVICE DOG*
